Isara Ongwiseth
Landscape Co-Designer
Landscape Co-Designer Isara Ongwiseth consciously honors the natural and cultural history of the sites he beautifies and improves.
Nowhere is Isara’s approach to design more visible than at the LEED® Platinum Lofts @ Cherokee Studios. The Pugh+Scarpa-designed, modern building evokes the legendary musical history of the site. The greenroof builds upon this theme, its variety of native grasses responding to rooftop breezes by forming musical waves of sound, color, texture, and fragrance.
Isara’s work on a French provincial home in La Canada is equally noteworthy. A Mediterranean garden replaced an expansive traditional lawn to conserve water while providing an enchanting eruption of colors and textures. A flagstone path meandering through a field of gravel provides an open feel and charming sound as visitors approach the home.
Prior to joining FormLA Landscaping, Isara conducted extensive research into the design of many urban centers, including Los Angeles’ historical Olvera Street, Los Angeles Union Station, and a downtown Pomona pocket park. Isara continues to enjoy urban adventures and the advancing gentrification of downtown L.A., including the neighborhoods surrounding his charming Art Deco home in the Korea Town district.
Isara earned a bachelor of science in Landscape Architecture at California Polytechnic University, Pomona.
