Post-fire and slide it is more critical than ever that we take great care with what we introduce to our gardens and wildspaces. California native plants authentic to LA have protective qualities. They stay lush and leafy in both drought and deluge and, therefore, do a better job of resisting fire, whereas many plants promoted as drought-tolerant are highly flammable. Their roots also help protect slopes from mudslide.

FormLA Landscaping gardens are full of California native plants authentic to LA. Theodore Payne Foundation and its semi-annual sales are a great way to become familiar with the foliage local to your area of LA… and maybe take some home at a discount!

If you are looking to restore a slope or simply make your garden more resilient, keep an eye out for this guy. Flash Green Dwarf Coyote Bush is one of our favorites!
