September 19, 2015 – Authentic L.A. Plant Palettes
Understanding your property (site analysis), developing a distinctive, climate-compatilbe plant palette is key to getting the New Look for L.A. and a garden aesthetic perfectly suited to your style and life.  Course topics include:  Climate compatible plant selection, fire resistant and slope-protecting plants, and hydro-zoning natural plant companions.  Get ready by taking our quiz to help you Find Your Perfect Plant Palette!

 

January 16, 2016 – L.A.’s Unique Outdoor Water Management
Even in drought, Los Angeles can have slide and runoff producing rain fall.  This course will cover water catchment and management strategies including:  permeable paving, bioswales, rain gardens, infiltration, and rain barrels.

 

April 16, 2016 – Sustainable Garden Design
Designing sustainable landscapes is all about thinking long term.  This course will look at rules of thumb for sustainable garden design, including:  plant spacing, maintenance considerations and strategies, troubleshooting designs, diseases/pests, editing, and retrofitting existing sprinklers to drip.
