FormLA Landscaping looks forward to designing and building the Wanderland Tea Garden for the 2011 Pasadena Showcase House of Design.

Anchored by a giant oak and visible through the living room window, the strolling garden is equal parts through fare and destination.  Meandering paths will connect the English Manor’s rear courtyard garden, pool, and sports courts.  Yet, there will be plenty of reason to stop and smell the proverbial roses. Striking, variable plant life will burst from the slope, inviting examination. A secluded seating area between the home and the pool will invite travelers to slow their pace or stay to take in the view of the surrounding landscape.  Mood lighting will draw strollers through the space, highlighting focal points, and ensuring pathway safety well into the twilight hours.

Save the date… and keep your Jane Austen handy.  After all “To sit in the shade on a fine day and look upon verdure is the most perfect refreshment.”

Join us at the vibrant and varied Otero garden for the Pacific Palisades Garden Club Spring Tour.

From the curvy, tree-lined street, visitors will see an extraordinary rock wall and exquisite gate marking the entry to the Otero’s private outdoor wonderland.  A wood and paver patio plays host to gurgling water features and a host of container gardens.

Swing sets for the young and the young at heart are perched along a winding trail in the front garden, which also contains a garden with many spices and peppers used in Thai dishes.  In the transition between the front and back outdoor spaces, see a gardener’s dream staging area, complete with planting shelves and a large open compost area.

The back patio’s mix of permeable pavers and pavers with lush, living joints offers a playful flair.  From the artistic firepit surrounded by plush seating or the spa-deck with built in seating, view a truly extraordinary section of Santa Monica canyon with the sparkling ocean beyond.  If you look closely, you might also get a glimpse of the family’s innovative hillside veggie garden!
