Job Description

Our maintenance team members have very different day-to-day experiences than you might expect.
 
Each workday, you will:

  • Be provided with the tools, equipment and PPE you and your team need to safely do your best job at every task
  • Take pride in the growth of your gardens and accountability for the checklist on each job
  • Monitor the health, safety and cleanliness of the garden as a whole
  • Prune foliage carefully, with an eye for its long term growth
  • Dead-head flowers to keep our gardens blooming
  • Rake mulch into open garden beds
  • Ensure lighting and irrigation systems are performing at their peak
  • Clean hardscapes by sweeping or using quiet, electric equipment
  • Feed on and offsite composting with green waste
  • Plant, manage and harvest edible gardens
  • Remove green and pet waste, move waste bins to the street
  • Clear waterways, including bioswales, dry rivers and other collection points
  • Hand-water container gardens and under-watered space
  • Apply all-organic, non-toxic fertilizers
  • Clip meadows and occasionally mow lawns
  • Recognize over and under-watering symptoms
  • Inspect and adjust irrigation and lighting systems
  • Handwater pots, trees, and other foliage as needed
  • Ensure there is no standing water on the property
  • Close all gates and return tools to the truck
  • Restock truck supplies, including PPE and first aid
  • Maintain gardening equipment

    • Manage landscape lighting systems

    Job Description

    This role is essential to our full-service team. FormLA Landscaping’s build (landscape construction) team works hand-in-hand with our designers to bring a design to completion. A day in this job is full of physical activity, problem-solving, and teamwork. At the end of the day, you are likely to be a little dirty, a little tired – and very proud of what you’ve created.

    As a landscape team member, you will:

    • Be provided with the tools, equipment and PPE you need to safely do your best job at every task
    • Dig
    • Drive team and equipment to sites throughout LA County
    • Install low-flow, subsurface drip irrigation and weather-based controllers
    • Install landscape lighting systems
    • Install walks, patios and drives of decomposed granite, gravel, concrete, stone and other materials
    • Plant
    • Move and reshaping soil
    • Rake
    • Sweep
    • Water
    • Weed
    • Use hand and/or power tools and/or equipment to perform a wide range of duties
    • Abide by rigorous health and safety standards
    • Find ways to reuse potential waste onsite

    It is possible you will also:

    • Engage with project designers to understand the goals and vision for a project
    • Have personable communication with clients on site
    • Be asked for feedback on how to improve operations and/or project management

    Job Description

    Our landscape construction foremen lead landscape construction and plant installation teams onsite. Foremen are an essential link between their teams (crews) and a project designer, as well as our clients. They ensure our construction teams are successful, setting schedules and organizing work onsite, ensuring team members have the tools and equipment they need, and guiding team members in learning new skills.

    A day in this job is full of physical activity, problem-solving, and teamwork. At the end of the day, you are likely to be a little dirty, a little tired – and very proud of your team and what you’ve created together.
     
     
    You will use your:

    • Excellent client communication skills
    • The ability to motivate and manage a team
    • Attention to detail and willingness to learn
    • Know proper planting technique, particularly if you know native plants
    • Understanding of smart irrigation, lighting and smart home technologies

     
    As a construction team foreman leading your team, you will:

    • Be provided with the tools, equipment and PPE you and your team need to safely do your best job
    • Take pride in bringing a design, a dream, to life and inspire that pride in your team
    • Read plansets (blueprints) and apply them in garden
    • Ensure accurate layouts by verifying field conditions and comparing to design plansets
    • Prep the location for your work by scheduling and placing job site signs, equipment, tools
    • Manage logistics, including deliveries and pick-ups of supplies
    • Plan for several days and weeks ahead with site supervisor or manager to ensure materials arrive
    • on time and meet both our quality standards and designer specifications
    • Introduce the team to new projects and clients
    • Integrate field and client changes to the plan
    • Assign team action items
    • Collaborate with, schedule and supervise subcontractors
    • Ready sites for inspections in compliance with permitting and building specifications
    • Accompany city inspections
    • Review production meetings notes
    • Use clock shark to schedule teams (crews) and to track and report work progress
    • Identify and communicate ways to improve and efficiencies in our production and processes
    • Abide by rigorous health and safety standards and ensure team members, subcontractors and others on the job site do as well

     
    On-site, you’ll also work hand-in-hand with your team. You may:
