Join Cassy Aoyagi in the creation of a Survivor’s Healing Garden at The Reverence Project, just steps from LA’s iconic Watts Towers.

The Reverence Project serves survivors of violence and aims to bring the healing impacts of nature to the community. It earned the support of green architects, builders, and landscapers as USGBC-LA’s 2022 Legacy Project (Learn More).

This game-changing garden sits at a critical juncture in the community where it can mitigate the impacts of divestment. It will shade commute paths for pedestrians and cyclists, address food scarcity with traditional and native edible plants, and bring healing nature to a community with a dearth of park space.

Volunteers have already removed refuse from an adjacent storm drain on Union Pacific Property, planted an abundance of native foliage, built raised beds for edible foliage, mulched the property and built trails through the planted spaces. This event will focus on the construction of a bioswale to protect the nearby storm drain and help facilitate LA’s water independence by feeding our groundwater table.

Upcoming events will expand tree canopy, and build a patio with solar sales, a kiva and a fire pit.

We hope you’ll join us!
